Cheers

Kayla is a young woman who worked at the reception desk at my doctor's office. I was talking with her co-worker about how beautiful Kayla was and her friend, knowing me as a painter, volunteered her as a subject. I offered Kayla some champagne to pose for me and "Cheers" took shape. I spent a long time on this painting, working slowly with light layers and trying to perfect the look of the shadows across the scene until I finally made myself put the finishing touches on this year.
